Owners of Caribbean property could benefit from possible plans to expand the reach of JetBlue Airways in the region.

The budget airline, which is based in the United States, is considering 24 destinations across the Caribbean and Latin America, to complement the existing services that it has been running for the past four years. JetBlue managers will consider a variety of factors including plans for hotel development in some tourist areas, as well as airport costs and the likelihood of corporate partnerships.

Noreen Courtney-Wilds, vice-president of sales for JetBlue, told caribbeannetnews.com: "Ever since JetBlue touched down in the Caribbean some four years ago, our business in the region has grown tremendously thanks to the support of local communities and business leaders."

The airline will operate over 70 services throughout the winter months to Caribbean destinations including the Bahamas, Bermuda, Nassau, Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic.

If the airline decides to go ahead with the additional flights, local Caribbean economies are likely to be boosted by extra visitations, in the process improving the value of beachfront Caribbean property.
