Exuma Bahamas. A New Direction

2008-10-28 09:24:53 by: Athena
THE business community in Exuma, Bahamas, has drawn up an action plan to make that island the next 'hot' destination in the Bahamas.
Reginald Smith, president of the Exuma Chamber of Commerce, wants to rethink how tourism is developed in the Bahamas.
This would include an investment of millions of dollars in infrastructure by the Bahamas government, he added.
Smith pointed out that Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, has always played centre stage to the development of tourism in the bahamas.
But, he argued that Exuma can attract a different client base and appeal to more high end travelers who are not as affected by the turmoil in world financial markets.
The plan by the Exuma business community calls for using the outlying villages to farm produce and to focus on fisheries resources, thus creating jobs in these sectors as well.
