Flying High in the Bahamas

If you live abroad and you're thinking about buying Bahamas real estate, you ‘re probably asking how you'll get here.

The good news is the Bahamas is located only 40 miles from South Florida at its closest point. Even better, there's a selection of direct flights to Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, and major cities in the U.S., as well as regular direct flights to Toronto and the U.K.

Some of our favourite second home Bahamas destinations – the islands of Abaco, Eleuthera and Exuma – have regular direct service to the U.S. and Exuma also has direct service to Toronto. So it's a cinch to travel back and forth.

If you're travelling through Nassau, Lynden Pindling International Airport, aka Nassau International, offers a wonderful Bahamian experience.

The new LPI is truly a work of art – from the open glass concept to the beautiful paintings and creations by local artists and the interesting little shops.

LPI celebrates everything Bahamian. Locals and the Bahamas' large second home owner population are thrilled with all the colours and art that have gone into making it so special.

The new $409 million airport's so beautiful; it grabbed the 2013 Airport Service Quality Award for Best Improvement in the Latin America/Caribbean category.

LPIA also ranked in the top five “best airports” in the region (Latin America and the Caribbean).

That's not bad for an island nation with a total population of 350,000 people!

And if travelling's involved, it sure makes owning Bahamas real estate a lot easier.
