Whoosh! It's that time of the year again.
Rushing here! Rushing there! Rushing everywhere!
We're so busy prepping for Christmas, we often end up neglecting our Bahamas homes just when we want to show them off.
So grab some lemons and suitcases, here are a few of my favourite tricks for sprucing up my Nassau home when I just don't have time to do a thorough job.
Make it Disappear
Get rid of clutter. Bung books and other clutter in your suitcases. Remove any material on the fridge door.
Put excess toiletries in a basket and hide under the sink.
Throw extra clutter in shallow plastic containers and slide under the bed.
Eliminate odours
Put a quarter of a lemon into the garbage disposal for a fresh smell.
To get rid of any lingering odours and make the kitchen smell good, fill a small pot with 3 tablespoons of vinegar and one cup of water. Boil for a few minutes.
Guests coming? After the vinegar treatment, simmer aromatic orange peel and water or cinnamon and water in a pot for a wonderful welcoming smell.
Clean the garbage bin and sprinkle with baking soda.
Steam your microwave. Put a bowl with water in your micro and heat for three minutes to soften any crud. Then wipe with a soapy cloth.
Wipe down the fridge and kitchen cabinets with a soapy cloth to removes smudges.
Ditto with doors, frames, knobs and handles.
No time to paint? Use Mr. Clean Magic Erasers to remove finger prints from walls, doors and molding.
A New Look in Moments
Invest in a few cushions and thrown blankets to give your living room a lift.
Hang those pictures you've been meaning to get up.
Set a pretty pot of flowers and candles out and light the candles at night.
That wasn't too bad, was it? Now you can sit back and enjoy your Bahamas home over the holidays..
