Home for the Holidays in the Bahamas

From Abaco in the north to Exuma in the south and all the other beautiful islands of the Bahamas, the holiday season is in full swing.
Our Christmas trees are dressed in fairy lights and sand dollars. The magnificent sound of Christmas carols soars in our churches and homes.
The music of goat skin drum beats and cowbells rings in the distance as dancers warm up for the annual Junkanoo festivals.
In our Bahamas homes, the traditional holiday breakfast of “burl fish” – boiled fish – poached fish and potatoes in a spicy broth - is served on Christmas morning and New Year's morning after the all night Junkanoo parties.
Others are celebrating the Festival of Lights, the Jewish holiday commemorating the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem dating back to the Maccabean Revolt.
We're basking in the warm sunshine, picnicking on the islands and still swimming in the sea.
Happy Holidays – from our Bahamas homes to wherever you may be.
