Spring is one of our favorite times of the year and Bahamas real estate shows exceptionally well in this season.
Whether it's Nassau, Paradise Island, Abaco, Eleuthera, Exuma or the other islands of the Bahamas, the islands are bathed by the cooling trade winds and kissed by gin clear waters in the most amazing shades of blues, turquoises and greens.
The white beaches sparkle and everywhere, the flowering native vegetation is in full bloom. The bright scarlet and purple of the bougainvillea, deep pink of the desert rose, flaming red of hibiscus and the magnificent yellows and pinks of the poui tree, not to mention the blue of plumbago are truly a sight to behold.
Many of the beautiful old homes on Eastern Road in Nassau – an area of prime Bahamas real estate – become showpieces with their lovely mature gardens.
Yes, it is dry – that's when these plants are at their best – and we do need rain, but the islands are an artist's palette.
When the first rains come, the Poinciana will come out, turning Nassau flaming red.
The water is still a little chilly for us Bahamians – but our non-Bahamian friends find it warm and laugh at our joke – “Bahamians don't swim during any month with the letter ‘R' with the exception of September.' The temperature is presently in the 80s during the day.
But when the first weekend of June rolls by, we'll be waterlogged!
