Abaco, Bahamas:
Tilloo Pond, the idyllic island retreat on Tilloo Cay, grabbed top honours in its class in
Unique Homes “Home of the Year” online voting contest.
Our showcase listing was one of 40 homes shortlisted from 1,000 pages of prestigious properties by the international real estate publication's staff. The homes were grouped into four categories according to price.
The public was invited to vote on the listings.
“I'm not surprised Tilloo Pond won by a large margin. It's a beautiful home. It has all the bells and whistles of luxury living and is set on 11 acres of spectacular sea to sea property,” said Mailin Sands of Coldwell Banker Lightbourn Realty, the exclusive listing agent.
Tilloo Pond has its own beach, a day dock and fully equipped dockage in a protected harbour on the Sea of Abaco. The 5,600 square foot home has many special features, including a vaulted ceiling fashioned from carved, wooden beams reminiscent of classic ship design, Travertine tiles, exotic hardwoods and unparalleled views.
It was built by computer systems developer Gaylord Layton as a work retreat.
Far away from the everyday distractions of the business world, Layton's core team was able to focus on their job like never before.
Layton said the group was more creative, energetic and productive on Tilloo. In fact, on this magnificent island paradise, they achieved more in just a few days than they normally would have in weeks or even months back at the office.
Looking at this island paradise, it's easy to see why.
