Foreign direct investment in the Bahamas through the end of September 2008 increased by $83.3 million or 7.3 percent above the corresponding period of the previous year, according to Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham.
In his first televised address to the nation for 2009, Mr Ingraham said the country is fortunate that the fundamentals of the economy and fiscal targets permit some flexibility in confronting the current economic crisis.
The Bahamas' international reserves position recorded an increase of $108.8 million at the end of 2008 which compares with a decrease of $45.6 million at the end of the previous year.
