Bahamas Joins Diamond Flotilla

The Bahamas joined the flotilla of 1,000 boats that sailed down the Thames River yesterday as a highlight of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebration.

That's our boat in the middle with the aqua, yellow and black flag.

We watched with pride as Queen Elizabeth glided down the Thames on a 209-foot long, three-decker Royal Barge in an amazing show of pomp and pageantry.

Imagine, only Queen Victoria's reign of 63 years and 216 days has exceeded Queen Elizabeth's 60 years on the throne!

As a member of the Commonwealth, we're proud of our ties to the mother country.

Although Independent since 1973, Queen Elizabeth is recognised in our constitution as Head of State and is very popular among Bahamians. We have inherited our parliamentary and judicial systems from Britain
