The Bahamas Connection

Marion Lightbourn, mother of Coldwell Banker Lightbourn Realty president Mike Lightbourn, chats with the Prince of Wales at a reception held at St. James Palace in London recently. Doubtless, the two had a lot to talk about. The Bahamas has long held a special spot for British Royalty. Prince Charles and Princess Di honeymooned on the beautiful island of Eleuthera. And Prince Charles's great uncle, mentor and close friend, Lord Mountbatten, also loved to visit Eleuthera, as does the Duchess of Kent. Prince Harry visited the island earlier this year. Mrs Lightbourn - Mallie, as she's known to her friends - is extremely knowledgeable about the Bahamas and real estate here in the islands. She lives in London, but winters in the Bahamas to spend time with her three sons: Mike, Richard, a Member of Parliament, and Tim, a businessman, as well as her grandchildren and many friends. For many years, Mallie took part in the annual Canterbury Pilgrimage, a 74 mile hike from the steps of St Martin-in-the-Fields to Canterbury Cathedral, to raise funds for the homeless. She continued on this amazing journey until about five years ago! At 95, Mallie's living life to the fullest.
