First Time Buyers Tax Relief to Continue

2013-05-29 14:03:05 by: AD
The first time home buyer Stamp Tax exemption will be extended from June 30 to June 30, 2018.

Prime Minister Perry Christie made the announcement as he delivered his Budget presentation to the House of Assembly today.

He said that "within the $500,000 cap, flexibility will be permitted as to the proportions allocated to the conveyance and mortgage."

Presently, successful applicants don't have to pay stamp duty on homes valued under $500,000, subject to certain restrictions.

This has saved first time buyers up to tens of thousands of dollars in stamp duty.
