We Bahamians love to eat.

In fact, we like to eat so much that a song by outstanding artist Eddie Minnis, our agent in Eleuthera, goes thus:

Five pieces of chicken Macaroni and cheese Roast beef, pork chop, rice and black eye peas Stew fish, crack conch, conch salad too Potato salad and cole slaw, just to name a few.

Eddie was describing the Bahamian buffet scene.

This is when without one ounce of shyness we Bahamians grab the largest plate we can find and cruise the buffet line, dolling out large portions of every dish until the mountain of food threatens to teeter over.

I was recently visiting Great Exuma, one of my favourite places on earth, and returned to Exuma Point restaurant in Rolleville, hoping that the buffet was as good as last time.

The drive from George Town is drop-down gorgeous with long stretches of brilliant white sand and that famous turquoise sea set against a powder blue sky.

There are some beautiful Exuma homes for sale along the way.

The restaurant was even better than last time!

The Grouper fingers, pan fried Snapper, the most succulent tender steam conch, mac and cheese, crab and rice, root vegetable boil, slaw, pasta salad. OMG! No room for the chicken or ribs, although my friends assured me they were delicious. Needed a crane to get out of there.

The atmosphere was a cheerful mix of locals and second home owners and everyone was chilled and making the most of that beautiful Sunday afternoon.

Exuma Point is situated on a beach with a playground for the kids. Bring a towel and bathing suit.

The owners and staff are lovely. This is one place you don't want to miss. It's typical of the whole laid-back island lifestyle of Exuma.

I couldn't do Eddie's Bahamian Buffet song complete justice. No room for anything else.
