Treasures From the Sea

Mother, Mother Ocean

We have heard you call…

One of our favourite pastimes in the Bahamas is shelling.

Many of the outer islands, like Long Island that's split by the Tropic of Cancer, have beaches and sand spits that are a treasure trove of sand dollars, sunrises, cowries and milk conch.

Gordon's Beach at the south of Long Island, with its crystal clear water and white sand beach, is one of those places.

It's kind of a special feeling, just you and the beach and the music of the sea, finding the most beautiful gifts nature has to offer.

Sometimes, there's not even a footstep in the sand on this secluded beach – all yours to explore.

Many homes in the Bahamas have shells on display in shell tables, in pretty thin glass jars with stoppers or hanging in driftwood mobiles.

At Christmas, we hang shell ornaments on our trees.

It's all part of what makes the Bahamas so special.
