Flying High in the Bahamas

Even with a global economic downturn, the Bahamas has moved steadily through a series of major development projects that have reinforced our position as a leading tourist and second home destination.

The old Cable Beach strip just outside Nassau on the island of New Providence is being reinvented as the New Riviera with the $3.5 billion Baha Mar resort now two-thirds complete.

Just think, the 3.3 million-square-foot project will play host to four major hotels, a casino and high end residences. It's scheduled to open in December 2014.

Then there's the new Airport Gateway Project, along with other massive roadwork upgrades in New Providence.

A year ago, the spanking new international arrivals terminal opened at the international airport.

Last week saw the opening of the sleek domestic arrivals and departures terminal.

The total airport work carries a $410 million price tag.

New roads, new airport, new resort…new feeling!
