Love is in the Air

LOVE IS IN THE AIR The Tribune of Nassau coined the right phrase when it declared Love is in the Air for the popular second home destination of Abaco. It wasn't talking about a hot new romance, but the inauguration of twice weekly scheduled seaplane service between Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Hope Town in the Abaco group of islands here in the Bahamas. Tropic Ocean Airways is partnering with Fort Lauderdale-based IJet Charters to offer direct flights to Hope Town. Hope Town is one of the jewels of the Bahamas. Settled by British Loyalists after the American Revolution, it's situated on the tiny island of Elbow Cay off the Abaco mainland. For those who may not know, Hope Town has a magnificent powder white sand beach on the Atlantic. It's sprinkled with charming pastel-coloured homes and cottages, boutique hotels, fun waterfront restaurants and arts and craft shops. Many of the homes are reminiscent of New England cottages while others are large and polished, but still in keeping with the laid-back island environment. And there's a great feeling of community on Elbow Cay. The real estate on this Abaco treasure is in great demand! Tropic Ocean will also start two-day a week service from Galaxy Aviation at Palm Beach International Airport to Abaco March 14. This is great news for all the folks who visit and live in Abaco.
