The sea is shimmering A beautiful sight Everyone is happy tonight Walking in an island wonderland The Christmas Season's in full swing in these beautiful islands of the Bahamas. Our Christmas trees are dressed in shells and sand dollars and the glorious sound of Christmas carols is lifting our spirits as we are reminded of the miracle of the birth of Jesus. The sounds of Junakanoo, the colourful festival with amazing horn and goat skin drum sections, fill the air. The kids are anxiously checking the keyholes to make sure they're well-oiled for Santa to magically slip through. Most of our homes don't have chimneys and so Santa melts into a wisp of a thing to get through the keyhole. Others are celebrating the Festival of Lights, the Jewish holiday commemorating the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem dating back to the Maccabean Revolt. The wonderful concerts and parties are in full swing and hundreds of people gathered for the the Annual Festival of Lights Christmas Boat Parade and fireworks on Nassau Harbour.
